Losing Tara, An Alzheimer’s Journey is a series of poems by Leslie Gerber documenting Tara McCarthy and Leslie Gerber’s journey.
Tara McCarthy was one of millions of Americans who fall victim to dementia; her husband Leslie Gerber observed her decline in his book of poetry, Losing Tara. As part of the presentation Leslie will recount the experience of spending a decade with a loved one as she loses her abilities and personality. Dennis J. Coates Professor of Neurologic Diseases at Harvard describes the book as “an eloquent way to memorialize their times together and also her most human qualities which dementia progressively destroys.”
Leslie Gerber is the founder of Parnassus Records, a classical music reviewer for the Woodstock Times. His previous book, Lies of the Poets is a collection of his poetry.
